Imagine one of the most diverse communities in America where almost 32% are foreign born and 60 languages are spoken within a 1.5-mile radius. That’s Clarkston, GA, the “Ellis Island of the South.” In Clarkston, there are great needs, but there are also great opportunities for churches and individuals to invest in the residents. For many, they left circumstances most of us could not imagine, yet they inherited a new situation most of us take for granted. It is in this transition that we have the greatest opportunity to meet their need, build relationships and begin gospel conversations.

The needs of the Clarkston community are great, and meeting those needs takes partnership from multiple churches, partners, and individuals who are committing to seeing the light of Jesus shine brightly in the community. This doesn’t happen easily or cheaply. The commitment might be as specific as helping families settle when they arrive in the country, helping them learn how to use modern appliances, or teaching ESL. Many of these opportunities happen through the Send Relief Ministry Center in Clarkston.
