Mission Trip Spotlight – New York

Send Relief offers mission trip opportunities through our seven ministry centers across North America. This month we’re shining a spotlight on New York City, where our Send Relief ministry center has openings for groups to work in the South Bronx. Volunteers on the trip will work with kids and teens to help encourage them and grow their confidence through after school tutoring and mentoring, helping with homework, playing games and activities and bible study.

Dale Williamson, a member of Forest Baptist Church in Forest, Mississippi, recently participated in a sports camp-themed mission trip at Graffiti 2 Church in the South Bronx and called it an extraordinary experience.

Dale said that while helping kids, he feels he and the church members that went with him were actually the ones who were impacted the most.

“Since 2005, our church has been sending mission teams to the South Bronx,” he said. “The first few trips were challenging because New York City is so different than what we’re used to back home. But we trusted God, and the folks we worked with took such good care of us, that we’ve fallen in love with the community and the people who live there. I can’t wait to go back and do it again.”

Dale says the richness of the experience keeps him and his church family coming back for more.

“We are honored to continue to serve God and Graffiti 2.”
