Lovewell Center’s Annual Toy Shop Brings Christmas to Families in Need

As Christmas approaches, the Lovewell Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, is gearing up for its annual Toy Shop event on December 9, bringing joy to local families in need. This festive and heartwarming initiative allows parents who are members of the Lovewell Center to “purchase” Christmas toys for their children using the hard-earned credits they’ve accumulated throughout the year.

The Lovewell Center, a Send Relief partner ministry center, is a membership-based resource center. They empower individuals to transition out of poverty and homelessness by attending classes and programs. As they engage in these educational opportunities, they earn valuable credits that can be redeemed in various Lovewell stores, including The Dresswell clothing store, The Smellwell showers and laundromat, The Eatwell food store, and The Stylewell hair salon. And through every interaction, the Lovewell Center team is sharing the hope of the gospel.

The annual Toy Shop event is a highlight for Lovewell members, providing them with the opportunity to select and “purchase” toys for their children. This ensures that every child receives a special gift while maintaining the dignity and choice for parents. Last year, the Toy Shop successfully distributed toys to nearly 400 children, and this year, the goal is even more ambitious.

To make this year’s Toy Shop the best ever, the Lovewell Center has made it possible for people across the nation to donate through their online wishlist. Toys purchased through the wishlist will be delivered directly to the Lovewell Center, ensuring they arrive in time for the toy shop.

The Lovewell Center is excited to transform its space into a toy store for a day, allowing parents to experience the joy of selecting gifts for their families. Thank you for your generosity that makes events like the Toy Shop possible. Not only do your gifts meet the needs of those striving for a restored and brighter future, but you’re also providing opportunities for the gospel to be shared.
