Overview

Hurricane Idalia made landfall on Florida’s western coast as a powerful Category 3 storm, making it the strongest hurricane to make landfall in the “Big Bend” region in more than 125 years.

Packing life-threatening storm surge and hurricane-force winds, Hurricane Idalia has left more than 230,000 without power on Florida’s Gulf Coast.

Send Relief and Southern Baptist Disaster Relief (SBDR) are monitoring the storm, and SBDR teams are ready to respond to both immediate and long-term needs once the storm has passed.

North Carolina and Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers have pre-staged a rescue boat near the storm’s path and are ready to deploy search and rescue missions as necessary in the coming days.

Your gifts to Send Relief’s 2023 Hurricane Fund will provide much-needed food, water and essentials to communities recovering from disasters like Hurricane Idalia.
