Overview

Home to nearly 3 million people and a popular tourist site for millions more, Chicago is the third-largest city in the United States. On the west side of Chicago, where most of the city’s gang-related violence takes place, Send Relief’s ministry center was established in 2021 to meet the growing spiritual needs of this metropolis. The ministry center staff, in partnership with Chicago West Bible Church and other SBC churches, are focused on strengthening families and the community with the goal of being a beacon of light in the darkness.

Qusai Mahmud

Qusai Mahmud is the Chicago Ministry Center Director. He is a lifelong Chicagoan who has been married to Denise since 1990, and they have seven adult children who were born and raised in the city. After coming to faith in his late twenties, he obtained his BA in Christian Ministries from Trinity International University, then went on to Union University for an MA in Christian Studies and an MA in Urban Ministries from Trinity Evangelical Divinity. He has planted three churches in Chicago and has helped plant dozens more. He is passionate about discipleship and helping identify and develop future planters, pastors and elders. Qusai's love of Chicago, serving the city and churches and ultimately, seeing the lost come to faith in Christ is evident in his ministry and conversations. In January of 2024, Qusai joined the Send Relief team and is hopeful and excited about seeing believers work together for the Glory of God and the benefit of the city. He loves discipleship, spending time with his wife, taking road trips and exploring the many unique neighborhoods in Chicago.
