Clean Water Opens Doors to Share the Living Water

Article

Several years ago, when COVID hit two South Asian communities, a handful of local believers shared what they had with their non-believing neighbors, and God used their sacrifice in a powerful way. Several people who received their help decided to follow Jesus, and as a result, new churches were started. Now, missionaries are partnering with those churches to continue meeting physical needs in South Asia.

The first need is clean drinking water. Many people don’t have a faucet they can turn on. They must spend much of their day fetching and purifying water. Sometimes, the only available drinking water is unsafe and sickens many people. So, Global Hunger Relief funds are helping churches in these communities dig wells that everyone can use. This will provide everyone in these villages with clean drinking water and give churches opportunities to share the gospel.

The second need that these missionaries and their partners are addressing is income. They are providing people with goats, chickens, and even fruit tree seedlings. These gifts will help families generate income from the sale of milk, eggs, and fruit and provide them with healthy food to eat.

Even more powerful? As gifts to Global Hunger Relief help to meet physical needs through clean drinking water, livestock, and fruit tree seedlings, it also opens the door for spiritual care. That’s Sabina’s story.

Empowering and Reaching Communities in South Asia

When Sabina’s family lost their income due to persecution, they weren’t sure how they would survive. Clean drinking water was a daily struggle, and job opportunities were scarce. But thanks to Global Hunger Relief funds, Sabina received a small business startup with livestock and fruit trees. Her family now has both food and income, and for the first time in a long time, hope.

Sabina and her neighbors learned about the love of Jesus—the Living Water—through believers in their community. Several have come to faith, and small churches are now growing in the region.

By addressing physical and economic needs with compassion, Global Hunger Relief is helping families break the cycle of poverty and experience the life-changing power of the gospel. And you can be part of the life transformation taking place in South Asia. Give now!
