In 2019, 15,000 children entered the foster care system in Georgia. With more than a decade of service in the area, the Valdosta ministry center prioritizes children in crisis by training churches and parents in best practices for the foster care journey. Whether it’s through monthly mentorship camps, church trainings or trauma therapy, the Valdosta center’s goal is to decrease the number of children in foster care while increasing the number of churches that are supporting foster families.
It is in this time of desperate need that you have the greatest opportunity to give practical assistance, make personal connections, and share the gospel.
What will you do:
Groups will help prepare and distribute food and clothes out to migrant camps, spend time with families, and share the gospel. During the week there is an ESL class that English speakers are needed to help with conversations with people from all around the world. No Spanish or other foreign language is required to help. There are also foster families in the area that need repairs around their homes (paint, repair fences, cut grass, etc.).
