Imagine one of the most diverse communities in America where 60-70% of the population are foreign-born, representing over 50 countries, and 100+ distinct ethnic groups. And all this diversity is compressed within 1.4 square miles. That is Clarkston, GA. Known as the “Ellis Island of the South,” there are great needs, but there are also great opportunities for churches and individuals to invest in the residents of this unique community. For many, they left circumstances most of us could not imagine, yet they inherited a new situation most of us take for granted.
Every year, we have the opportunity to bless our diverse population of families who have come to our community from all over the world with the gift of a backpack filled with school supplies so that their children are prepared for the new school year. This will be an event where you and your church will be able to help assist us in giving out these backpacks to families of the community. The event will include games, chances for ministry partners to set up booths to share about what they do, and provide a space to allow you to pray with individuals who attend the event.
