When Hurricane Helene made landfall on September 26, 2024, it left behind more than damaged homes and flooded streets. It disrupted lives, displaced families, and created needs that didn’t disappear when the headlines faded. Today, that work continues.
Because recovery takes time.
And the Church is still there.
A sustained response by the Church
In the days after the storm, your gifts were put to work. Southern Baptist Disaster Relief (SBDR) teams mobilized quickly across the Southeast. Meals were served. Homes were cleared. Supplies were delivered across more than 20 response sites in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Virginia.
Now, the work has shifted from immediate relief to long-term recovery.
Local churches are continuing to walk alongside their communities, helping families rebuild, meeting ongoing needs, and creating space for relationships that point to Jesus.
This is what it looks like when compassion stays.
Where recovery is still happening
In North Carolina and Tennessee, the work is far from over. Churches and volunteers are actively helping homeowners rebuild, reaching into remote communities, and offering both practical help and gospel hope to families who are still finding their footing months after the storm.
Send Relief continues to support these efforts by investing in long-term recovery through local ministry—because of this network, help is not only fast. It lasts.
Pray
- Pray for families still rebuilding after the storm.
- Pray for volunteers and Disaster Relief teams continuing this work.
- Pray for local churches as they serve their neighbors and share the hope of Jesus.
