Disaster Update

Help Churches Respond After the Venezuela Earthquakes

Churches are already there. Together, we can help them serve.

Two powerful earthquakes struck near Venezuela’s north-central coast on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, bringing down buildings and causing damage in and around the capital, Caracas. Families rushed into the streets as walls collapsed, rescuers continue searching through the rubble, and aftershocks are still being felt.

In moments like this, the local church is not far away.

Within hours of the earthquakes, Elier J. Romero, general director of the Venezuelan Baptist Convention (CNBV), shared this update:

“Brothers, we are okay. We are receiving news from the affected areas. We continue praying.”

As churches assess the damage and identify the greatest needs, Send Relief is in contact with trusted Baptist partners in Venezuela and across the region.

The Venezuelan Baptist Convention has called on its churches to activate their response efforts and serve as places of refuge and hope for their communities. Because these churches are already present in their communities, they can begin caring for families immediately and continue serving long after emergency response efforts end.

Your gift fuels this response.

As needs become clear, Send Relief is prepared to come alongside local churches and trusted partners with emergency assistance and long-term recovery support. These needs will likely include food, water, shelter, and more.

Your generosity helps provide practical care for families affected by disasters while strengthening local churches as they serve their neighbors and share the hope of the gospel.

When disaster strikes, compassionate ministry is more than meeting immediate needs. It is walking alongside communities as they begin to rebuild.

You can help today.

Your gift will help Send Relief respond to earthquakes and other disasters by supporting local churches as they bring urgent help and eternal hope to people facing crisis.

Please pray for Venezuela.

  • Pray for those who have been injured and for families searching for loved ones.
  • Pray for protection over rescue workers as aftershocks continue.
  • Pray for Venezuelan churches and believers as they serve their communities with compassion and the hope of Christ.
  • Pray for wisdom for local leaders as they assess damage and coordinate relief efforts.
  • Pray that many people would experience the love of Christ through the faithful presence of local churches.
