In 2019, 15,000 children entered the foster care system in Georgia. With more than a decade of service in the area, the Valdosta ministry center prioritizes children in crisis by training churches and parents in best practices for the foster care journey. Whether it’s through monthly mentorship camps, church trainings or trauma therapy, the Valdosta center’s goal is to decrease the number of children in foster care while increasing the number of churches that are supporting foster families.
It is in this time of desperate need that you have the greatest opportunity to give practical assistance, make personal connections, and share the gospel.
What will you do:
Teams will help set up and prepare for and take part in a Community Day within the migrant camps. This will include taking care of basic medical needs, distributing clothes and food, playing games with the children, and sharing the gospel. During the week there is an ESL class where English speakers are needed to help with conversations with people from all around the world. No Spanish or other foreign language is required to help.
