In 2019, 15,000 children entered the foster care system in Georgia. With more than a decade of service in the area, the Valdosta ministry center prioritizes children in crisis by training churches and parents in best practices for the foster care journey. Whether it’s through monthly mentorship camps, church training, or trauma therapy, the Valdosta center’s goal is to decrease the number of children in foster care while increasing the number of churches that are supporting foster families.
It is in this time of desperate need that you have the greatest opportunity to give practical assistance, make personal connections, and share the gospel.
What will you do:
Teams will come to help with a mentoring camp for kids within foster care and underserved areas. This weekend camp will have small groups that share the gospel, classes that will teach a life skill, and time for games and fun. The camp will take place Friday and Saturday. Teams will also take part in preparing and setting up for a large Christmas-time light show for foster care families for the rest of the trip.
