Imagine one of the most diverse communities in America where 60-70% of the population are foreign-born, representing over 50 countries, and 100+ distinct ethnic groups. And all this diversity is compressed within 1.4 square miles. That is Clarkston, GA. Known as the “Ellis Island of the South,” there are great needs, but there are also great opportunities for churches and individuals to invest in the residents of this unique community. For many, they left circumstances most of us could not imagine, yet they inherited a new situation most of us take for granted.
Every year, we have the opportunity to bless our diverse population of families who have come to our community from all over the world with the gift of a backpack filled with school supplies so that their children are prepared for the new school year. In order to do that, we depend on the body of Christ to help us take all of our supplies and pack them into the backpacks the day before we distribute them. Come be a part of this fun event with your students, your family, your small group, and help us meet needs, build relationships, and share the Gospel.
