Send students across North America to expand their view of being on mission
GenSend is designed to be one of the most exciting, intense and unique student missionary experiences in North America. It immerses young adults into an urban context to gain a practical knowledge of the realities of missions and leadership.
Through GenSend Summer, students from across experience ministry alongside leaders in one of the North American Mission Board’s 32 Send cities. Students participate in community with others from around North America as they dive into some of the areas of greatest need.
Participants will spend their time learning to live their life on mission under the guidance of urban ministry leaders. Along with reinforcing gospel foundations and simple missiological practices, the intention of GenSend is to be an extension of the local church’s church planting and mission efforts.
Students are not compensated during GenSend Summer and are often sacrificing summer job opportunities to participate. As a result, they earn no income during the summer that might otherwise be useful for college tuition, books, etc.
Costs for each student include:
- Travel, typically flights, from home to their orientation and from their debrief
- Lodging in dorms, minimizing the cost of room and board
- On-location transportation (Usually mass transit)
- Meals and miscellaneous expenses
The total expense for a student’s six-week experience is approximately $2000-2500. (The North American Mission Board greatly subsidizes much of this expense through a $900 meal and miscellaneous expense stipend, in-city transportation, housing, and flights to/from their Send city).
Your support allows for more students to participate each year and offset the costs for participation, thus allowing fund to go further.
